What is a debt relief order?

A Debt Relief Order (DRO) is a type of insolvency offered by the UK government for people with low incomes and limited assets. It enables a person to write off certain debts without the need for bankruptcy. The DRO is a form of insolvency, and it will normally last for one year, but can be extended for a further year. It may also help to protect a person from legal action by creditors.
